    80th Birthday

Well I hope I live till i'm 80. Last month was my mothers 80th birthday and I have to say she still gets around alot better than I do some days, she still drives (not sure if thats a good thing) but shes pertty careful and hasn't had any accidents or tickets, thats more than I can say for me and my 25 year old son.
It was a nice time we had family from all over come and visit and stayed for about a week, most of them I haven't seen for a while, it was nice. The weather was great we spent a lot of time out by the poolit was about 115 most of the time they were here, there was about 25 of us all togather and of course all familys have those who like to drink a little too much, but everything turnd out alright they knew when it was time to pass out. My Mom was really happy and she made arangement to head back east for a few weeks and spend sometime with her sister and brother how live in philidelphia and Kansas city. It will be the perfect time to go back there and see all the tress turn colors, here in las vegas we don't see much of that. Hope she has a nice time and remembers to bring me back something. Let you know how it turns out,
    till then Cya  Nerd

    About Time

Well it's about time I got back and wrote something, The first part of the year went pretty good, no hospital stays and not to many sick days.
Around the end of may we went on a vacation to dana point, CA to a time share we have, it's very nice, right on the beach. We took my grandson for a week and my son and his girlfriend and two little girls for a weekend to legoland and the san diego zoo, those trips went pretty well considering everything. My son and girlfriend and 2 girls left on a tuesday, by the way the girls are 3 & 6 and my grandsons are 3&4, so you know what i ment when I said everything went pretty well considering. After they left we went to the beach a couple days and back to san diego to sea world, that was really nice untill the last hour when we let the boys play in the play ground. I thought my wife was going to sat on a bench for a while, while I watched the boys, so I sat our new canon fe170 camera next to her without telling her (my fault) then I turned around and she was right behind me, the first thing I asked was did you pick up the camera? What camera, she said, My heart dropped, I didn't care about the camera it was all the 400 pics on it that bother me. Well we went to lost and found but of course on one turned it in, I checked back with them for a few days but it was a lost cause. I bought a new canon powershot that I liked better anyway, and I scribed my name, phone # and address into this one, I also took a picture with all my info on it and lock the picture so it can't be erased without a password, so maybe this time I might get it back if not the camera, at least the sd card. All N All it was a great trip, any time I can spend that much time with my grandsons i'm happy! Well I'll leave my mother's 80th birthday party for another story, I'll post some pics of san diego (my sons girlfriend also had a camera, Thank God so we did get some pictures of leg-o-land and the zoo and beach) C-ya

    Halloween

I hope eveyone got plenty of candy last night, i'm still sick, took my two grandsons out for about an hour and got 15 lb of pure sugar!!!, They were up all night. They sure looked cute. Weather was great and the kids could only last about an hour, thank god, other than that it was a pretty uneventful night, no supprise when i got home, so all & all October was a very good month for me, Now if I can only make it through Thanksgiving I'll be greatful.

    I Asked for it

Well I had to open my big mouth and ask for it to rain for days, well it tryed to. It rained over an inch in two days and caused a lot of flooding around here, since its all desert it doesn't sink in the ground and the surrounding mt.just act like a funnel and pours all that water right into the valley. Lucky it didn't get real bad, but it sure was nice for a change. Don't need that much rain so fast, Just a quater inch every other day for a week would be nice, but we'll see how it goes, if I get any good flood pics i'll post them here

    Another Hobby

Well It finally happen, I got tired of watching commercials and decieded to start editing the movies I recorded. Damm nobody told me it took so long to edit a movie, first you have to watch it then you have to go back an decied where you want to cut it, You have to go back and worth to the exact spot you to cut, then you have to watch the commercials and decied where you want to start the movie again, thats another back and worth process until you have just the right spot to start the movie again. After all that you end up throwing the part that took so long to edit away, I don't know maybe your better off just watching the commercials or going to the bathroom or something until there over, I haven't decieded yet. I'll do a couple more and see how they turn out if they look better than the orginal i'll keep doing them until I got tired or get another hobby, the weather station still takes up alot of time (just watching the weather go bye). If I get too many things going I won't have time to sleep more than the four hours I get allready.

P.S. Took a couple more pics of my maneaters

    It finally rained

10/5/06 It only took ten months for it to rain this year but it finally came that is if you want to call it rain, it only measured .004 on my rain gauge. But I finally got to see if it even worked up untill now I had to pour water into it ( I know thats cheating) but it's the only way I had to check my instruments to calibrate them. Were lucky if it rains .25 in. a year here. July is usually the rainy month but it's been very dry in vegas this year, bad year for fires too, there's been a fire burnning somewhere around here for the last few months, just as fast as they put one out lighting strikes and another starts. (check out my pics of lighting) It's the kind that hits the ground or anything around. I was watching a lighting show one day when zap it hit a telephone pole about a block away, nad I was looking right at the pole when it hit, it was awsome, it blew up the transformer into little bits, piece's blew all the way to where I was!! Anyway we need all the rain we can get, I hope it rains for days!!!

Still a pain but not as bad

Well my station is still up and running and haven't had any personal problems, but a couple of the people I send data to are showing that my temperture is about 20 deg. to high, when it reads 85 here they say it says 105 to 110 degs.  I've checked and I can't find anything wrong on my end, someone said something about a radiation shield but I don't know anything about that, execpt to stay away from it !!  So I've written a couple of letters to some people that should know what to do, I holpe.  Let you know what happens.
Meet a interesting lady online the otherday from poland, here in the states looking for a husband, she said she wasnting haveing very good luck only met one polish guy in the last coulpe years and he didn't want to get married, so she headed back to poland, hope she has better luck there (but then she can't live in the states) to bad, seamed like a nice person.

    headaches

09-17-06 is when it all started, I bought a weather station thought it was going to be a piece of cake installing, HA HA HA.  Setting up all the sensors was a snap.  It started when I installed VWS ( Virtual Weather Station ) on my computor, that went ok, it was when it said I needed another program for it to work, mind up I paid 60 dollars for VWS, but the other program was a free download.  I still couldn't unstand why I needed another program for this one to work, I could have downloaded Heavy Weather for free and used it. But any way I did it, I loaded VWS & HW (heavy weather) onto my new sony vaio. When I started the program everything went ok WVS loaded then HW loaded and started uploading info for about 45 sec. Then KAPOW it froze and rebooted giving me an error code that naturaly I couldn't understand, so I sent the error to microsoft, still waiting to hear from them.  I did everything under the sun I could think of and I'm very good with computors, been building and repairing them for about 20 years, my first computor was An IBM clone 20 meg hard drive, the biggest at the time and a whole 256k of ram. Anyway I reinstalled everything at least a dozen times trying different combination, first loading HW then VWS and vice-a-virsa, tried every setting they had on both programs.  Call the people I bought it from (don't want to mention any names but there the only people to sell VWS ) they said it was a hardware problem or a problem with HW, which they don't have anything to do with, they only offer it as a free download.  Anyway this went on for about a week and half, contacting anyone I could think of, it was no help. I finnaly ask myself, self way would you need a free program to run a lisened program, so I uninstalled all of HW and tried running VWS by its self KAZAM THE PROGRAM GODS WERE GOOD TO ME it started uploading info right away and not borthing any other programs on my computor and hasn't froze or rebooted yet and it's been about a month now.  What I don't understand is why the people who sold me the program in the first place didn't have enough smarts about there own program to know that it's a stand alone program and doesn't need any help from a free program unless they have an interest in that program ???  So a word to the wise anyone trying to start a home weather station either get the free download It's a beta release (I couldn't get it to work with or without VWS) but maybe it was just me. OR buy a stand alone program.  I'll update as problems arise.
